Yoking with unbelievers.

You know that person, whom you are so close to, whom you feel so connected to. You want to tell her/him of the funniest happenings in your life. He/She should never miss the show, no. Why should he/she, when in fact through all that you were wishing they were there? There is nothing wrong in such relationships/connections. It might not necessarily be romantic/intimate but it is there.

They are not of Christ, they are not Christians or they are “Christians”. There lies the problem. You want so much for them to receive Jesus in their lives, to solve your emotional equations and fulfil your expectations. You wish so much that their reprobate minds would know Christ and reform.

But though you would wish all that, deep down you know that all that closeness is superficial, is a phase if you are a staunch Christian, never mind the lukewarm Christians who warm the sits in Church, increase the Church numbers and are not really for Christ. They know God but will be following their own selfish ambitions. Mind these Christians who are of the world and are not part of the Body of Christ, that they may not drag you with them into futility and double-mindedness.

What does the Bible say about yoking with unbelievers?

2Corinthians6:14-18  Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?  15 And what accord has light with belial? Or what part has a believer with unbeliever?

As Amos 3:3 says, two cannot walk together unless they are agreed. In the end you will have to compromise your standards, and will cease to be a vessel for honour. Why should you agree to an invite to some club opening, knowing that it’s an unholy ground? Should anything happen to you there, you’ll have yourself to blame; for the scepter of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put their hands unto iniquity. Psalms125:3

Should you hate unbelievers? No. The greatest commandment is love. If you have no love, and love Christ, sell all your possesions for His cause, you are a as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. For how can you love a God whom you have not seen, when you don’t love your neighbour. The Bible commands us to love everyone, but love those who are of the body of Christ more.

Therefore, ” Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I Corinthians6:17

If there’s a burden to bring them to His Light, go beyond the veil in prayer and intercession, and pray for the person, that when the seed of salvation is placed in their hearts and not necessarily by you, it may germinate. No one can come to Jesus unless God draws Him.John6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Love everyone but be vigilant as these are the evil times, men are lovers of themselves, unholy, boasters, unloving, headstrong, haughty, traitors, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2Timothy3:1-6

There are a lot of good people in the world and not followers of Christ. Even the pope is preaching tolerance because there is but one God even if we worship differently. Don’t give up on them. 2,000 years ago, things were very different. Humanity clustered in groups with similar beliefs because of fear and because of the strength in numbers. It’s what humans do. Now we have the ability to see each other and honor each other for the good in them. Do you think that those people who do good works but haven’t the faith, only the hope or dream, would be rejected by God? Or is God so much greater than what we can comprehend? Be vigilant, yes, but don’t be exclusive of those who try to do their best to make the corners of the world nicer. There are things evolving in human society as we can communicate better. Peace, love, hard work, good works are found all around you. Please don’t worry and shut them away from your heart.
You’ve thought this through and for a very long time. I’m an old lady and have looked at the world also. Your perspective for good will get you through the hard times. Look for those that are used by God but may not realize it. Sometimes, they are just good people.

No, those people who do good are under the works and the Law, and will have their judgement therein. No one can go to the Father without the Son. I don’t propagate hate, No, Love everyone moreso those that are of the Body of Christ. Beware of the unbelievers, You who have received salvation as He who is in you is Greater than he who is in the world. The Word of God is life, is Living and is sharper than a double edged sword, piercing through the division of joint and marrow, of soul and spirit. God will not use any one He has not empowered and Charged with His work. Empowerment is the HolySpirit. Yes, society is changing, is dynamic, but Christians should not conform to the ways of this world but be transformed by the renewal of their minds, Romans 12:2 For there is no continuing city in this world. Yes, do not shut away unbelivers, who follow lewdness but separate yourself as a living sacrifice and do not yoke unequally with them, lest you fall.

I’m an atheist (i.e. I do not believe in any god). The reason for this is simple: there is no scientific proof for the existence of god. I am not one to take things based on faith. I need hard, absolute proof before I will believe something.

However I have friends from all faiths and lack thereof. We find much more in common than different. My best friend is a hardcore Christian currently serving a mission in Haiti. I enjoy hearing about her experiences and at the end of the day we are happy to discuss not only our differences but our common interests over dinner and cocktails.

    This is interesting sister.
And no, there is no lawlessness that the non believer will teach you. The atheist is good for society. She does good for its own sake. She believes virtue is its own reward.
You will do yourself so much good having one as your friend

My friends are of all religions, only that I am careful not to be led astray by strange doctrines, Yes the atheist is good for society, being fully of the world. But remember that a fool has said in his heart there is no God and will be caught in his/her own craftiness. I will be posting later about the law and works as I knew that this would spark something, but there is no bending of God’s Word.

Ah yes. Only a fool says in heart there is no god. All wise people say so loudly.
There’s no god’s word. What we have is works of men who claim to speak for or on behalf of god

You are really one funny person you know makagutu. I was going to write an epistle and then decided not.
But then, for the person who wrote something about Luke 19, I just have to say this; I don’t know if you have any idea what a parable is? I mean the same likewise Jesus that talked about the nobleman instructing people who wouldn’t allow him to reign over them be slayed was the selfsame Jesus that was crucified and killed on the cross by men. He actually surrendered himself you know. I don’t know if you actually know that parables are not what they seem, they have deeper meanings.
And by the way, he was always found loving those who actually have their mind closed up against him and have lost their way. He always loved them. That’s the Christ life!
What’s more amazing to me at this point is that he loves you even with your ideas and beliefs. He’s love is unconditional.
This whole thing is just funny to me myself you know. I can’t just seem to even hate you or be angry at you no matter what you believe or have said. Well, that’s what happens when you allow Christ to be formed in you. All I see is somebody with a different and misplaced priority.

Anyway, don’t bother replying cos I don’t intend to reply any further. Stay awesome bruv. *smiles*

You are one hell of a guy. You respond to me unsolicited. I say unsolicited because you are a guest to this blog just as I am and tell me I should not respond. What a guy you are.

This is where we are told always not to argue, but to bless those who wish to argue, knowing that it generates strife. When the Day comes, no one will claim not to have heard. They will want to argue and that will grieve the Spirit, but at times in our spiritual anger, we can’t help it.

shucks, sarah, why not mention Luke 19 where your supposed savior says that anyone who doesn’t accept him should be brought before him and killed? Or is that a little too far even for you and terribly inconvenient because such a TrueChristian would also have to forgo all of the benefits that atheists scientists have brought to the world. You are one more cherry picking Christian who has invented her religion in her image.

For all of your claims of not spreading hate, that simply isn’t true. You want to pretend that you and those who agree with you are the only TrueChristians and you want to fantasize that anyone but you is some evil thing. Alas, you have nothing to support your fantasies, much less that the nonsense in the bible is true.
